ETHICS OF DYKON A/S
Our commitment to endorse ecological manufacturing practices is a primary issue to us and is further certified by Oeko-Tex 1000.
We further encourage our suppliers to adhere to and become members of the BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative), a European initiative aimed at improving social conditions and reducing environmental impact. The BSCI is the European monitoring and control system for business ethics and social responsibility.
We therefore support all manufacturers who play an active role in combating child labour, discrimination and slave labour, thus ensuring compliance with minimum pay and conditions.
All our fills are a by-product of the poultry industry only. We harvest our feather and down only from mature ducks and geese that are slaughtered for nutritional purposes.
Our fills and fabrics are tested by independent hygiene laboratories to further guarantee safe and healthy products.
In the 1950’s, the ‘Eider’ duck was proclaimed as a protected species. For this reason their down can only be harvested from the nest, not the bird, once the nesting season is over. Only a small portion (10%) of the nest may be harvested as this allows the bird a head start on next year’s build.
