Care of Ringsted Dun Products
Washing Instructions
All down and feather products are washable at 60°C maximum in a large capacity or commercial machine. It is recommended that natural filled duvets should be laundered professionally as they need to be dried completely.
Ø Use a mild detergent at a temperature not exceeding 60º Celsius.
Ø Spin-dry gently after washing.
Ø Tumble dry at 60-80º Celsius until completely dry (without excessive heat) – very important. It is recommended that you add two tennis balls or dryer balls to ensure that clumps of down are disentangled and opened up during the drying process.
Do not wash the duvet with any other laundry.
DO NOT DRY CLEAN – the chemicals used in the process will damage the fill.
How often should you wash pillows and duvets?
It is recommended that you wash your pillow once or twice a year and your duvet once a year when changing between summer and winter duvets. If you have an allergy, follow the same procedure as described above; just wash the products more often. The European Down and Feather Association (EDFA) recommends washing duvets four times a year and pillows 12 times a year. Washing instructions are indicated on product labels.
Regular Care & Storage
Duvets and pillows require airing and fluffing at the time of 'dressing' the bed each day. Duvets and pillows that are not in daily use should not be stored in sealed plastic bags: use cotton bags for storage when items are not being used. It is important that you care for your duvet regularly if you want to enjoy the use of it for many years. When you get up in the morning, make sure the moisture absorbed during the night can escape. Fluff your duvet when you make your bed. This keeps it lofty, light and airy. Don't forget to fluff it from different sides to distribute the filling evenly. It is important never to vacuum or beat the quilt - use a soft brush instead.
